Ireland April 2010

Our first stop in Ireland was Killarney. What a wonderful little town. Pubs just outside our hotel. Great Irish music. We had a great time.

Ed and I walked the Gap of Dunloe. Some how I thought the 7 1/2 miles was mostly down hill. Boy was I wrong. We then went in a boat 1 1/2 hours down 3 lakes connected by rivers. They are Upper, Middle and Lower Lakes near Kerry National Park.

Ahh Ireland, ancestrial homeland. What a beautiful country this is. The people are just wonderful. We had such a wonderful time. It just wasn't long enough. Could have used a few more days. More pictures to come later. I have over 1200 to go thru. Jeese did I over do it or what!!!

Went to the Wild Animal Park today with the girls. Had fun. Went to see the butterflies and feed the lorakeets. Some great flowers were also there. Everything is in bloom right now. All in all it was a good day and the girls had a great time too.

This little 2 month old elephant is trying so hard to pick up or move this log. It was soooo cute.

Well it is finally done except for the back label. This is a quilt done for Madeline's preschool. It is the 4 year olds footprints turned into flip-flops. It will be auctioned off on May 22. I sure hope it brings a lot of money to the school. The kids had a good time making the footprints.

Quick Trip to Death Valley

Well it was a spur of the moment trip to Death Valley and Joshua Tree. It's like lets go and we did. Made quick reservations for places to stay and bam we were gone. We first went to Death Valley and we saw an awful lot in a very short amount of time. Our last stop was 5 hours in Joshua Tree. These first two pictures are of them. We had a great time and want to go back to Joshua Tree. Not enough time there. Lots of hikes yet to do. And somewhere in our travels I need to get some quilting done. Too many unfinished projects left to do. Oh well....the price of having fun :)

Here is one of the plants in the valley. As you can see there was pleanty of color this year. As we left the valley to the south it was even more colorful. Just beautiful this year.

This is driving along the dry lake bed. Just look at all that salt!

Here is one of the flowers there. Most of the flowers in Death Valley are all very tiny. Like between the size of a pin head to the size of a quarter. Here we are at the old home stead!!!

These two pictures were taken at Aguerberry Point. Quite a view of the valley floor. Just wish it wasn't so hazy. And of course a few clouds in the picture would help out.

Here are a few of the wildflowers in Borrego.

Went to Borrego on Tuesday to see the wildflowers and did we see the flowers. The desert is fabulous right now. Ed is here with the girls and I am next with the girls.

Go and check them out if you can. This is a great year thanks to all the rain.

So much fun in my photography class. I learn so much in such a short amount of time. New techniques every time. We went to Balboa Park on Sunday and did some shooting in the rain. Not too much rain, didn't spoil the day. Here are a few of the photos I shot on Sunday.

Mission Trails Park

We went to Mission Trails Park on Wednesday. What a beautiful place to visit and hike around. It's so green right now. The wildflowers are just starting to bloom and there is water in some of the canyons that are usually dry. If you get a chance go and visit. They also have a wonderful visitor center.

A day with the Girls

Here is Ed with Madeline on his shoulders and Elizabeth by his side. He is really enjoying retirement!

We then went to the mosaic garden in Escondido. The girls really liked it. Had fun climing on the pieces even though they weren't supposed to.

Went to the Wild Animal Park on Tuesday. The girls had fun with the lorakeets. At times they overwhelmed Madeline.

Elizabeth actually smiled and had fun taking pictures. We had gone to the zoo first and then went to Spanish Village. All I had was a long lens on my camera. We had a great time that morning.

Yea, I finally finished painting the other one. Now both have their final borders on and now on to the quilting part. Don't know when that will happen, I have to make a quilt for the preschool that Madeline attends. It will be a fund raiser for the school.

Just got back from a wonderful nighttime photo shoot with some friends. Had a blast learning about the flash and just what you can do with it. Here are just a few of the photos. Looking for a great class to take.....IN FOCUS LEARNING CENTER is the best. Rod and Robin are wonderful photographers. You will certainly learn new things with them.

Just got back from a wonderful weekend at the Road 2 California Quilt Show. Took a class from Patt Blair and Clyde is what I created. Painting on fabric is so much fun. What a great way to spend a weekend, looking at beautiful quilts and learning something new.

We went to Bouse, AZ the week between Christmas and New Year's. We spent 3 days there riding the quads and then went to Superstition in California for the last 4 days. Hilary, Ryan, Madeline and Elizabeth met us there to ride the quads. Madeline did really well this year.

My Christmas Quilt

Well after several weeks I finally finished my Christmas Row Quilt. Each row is a pattern from a shop hop I went on. Shop hop meaning I and my friends went to 8 different quilt shops in 2 days. Each shop provided a pattern for this quilt. It was up to me on which row when where. I changed a few things on some of the rows. The theme was Candy Cane Christmas. Fun to do but I don't know if I will ever do another one of these row quilts. The shops do this 3or 4 times a year.

Well I just got back from a weekend in Vegas. Went there to quilt....yes I said quilt. Went with 3 other girls and we went to several quilt shops and then came back to the condo and did some quilting. They made some quilts and I was busy making purses. I got quite a few done. Here are the quilts that they made. Becky is first, Jeanne is second and Cheryl is third. I think they all turned out great.

Here are the girls on our outting to the "Strip". We stopped to watch the water show and just walked around and people watched. There was a big fight that night and there were a lot of very short skirts and very high heels!

Well this is where we stayed. Desert Paradise Resort in Las Vegas. We had a 2 bedroom condo. It was very nice.

Here are some images from Nov. 2nd on top of Mt Helix. The moon was rising and the sun was setting. The weather was great and the view fantastic. This is why we live in San Diego. Can't beat this.

Well Halloween and come and gone. The week was busy with the grandkids. We went to Disneyland on the 27th and it was all decked out for Halloween. Had a great time. Ed and I carved pumpkins today and they turned out great.The girls came by and Treat or Treated in the neighborhood. We had the annual Halloween potluck with the neighbors and all was good. Not too much candy left...thank God.

Life in the fast lane....

Well, life has been hectic lately. We had Miss Madeline's 4Th birthday party on September 13Th. I can't believe she is already 4. She is so grown up. Derek and his family came down on the 12Th and spent a few days with us. It was so nice to see all the grand kids play together. They did so well with each other. We did all the touristy things like the zoo, Sea World, Balboa Park and then went to Disneyland for 2 days. Had a wonderful time doing all that. We then took Madeline to the La Brea Tar Pits the next day after we left Disneyland. She loved it so much. I'm sure we will take her back there.

I then went up to Oregon on the 24Th to prepare my dad for the move down to our house. We did the garage sale thing and last minute stuff. We left Oregon on the 29Th after escrow closed. Two days of driving and home at last. We are still getting settled into having an extra member of the family living with us. It's been just Eddy and I for a long time now.

Eddy finally retired for the second time and wants to travel now. I just can't go as often as he would like to now. I babysit our granddaughters 3 days a week right now. We need to find a back up sitter so we can take off. My dad is not driving down here so we will need to make sure he can get to doctors appointments when we are not here. As you can tell we are still in the working out the details stage. Ed might be doing some traveling without me until we can get this all figured out.

On October 18Th we had Elizabeth's 2ND birthday. She just isn't into the birthday thing like Madeline. We all had a good time and she loves her presents....when she can get them away from Madeline. She seems to think they also belong to her. With all this going on I just finished the girls Halloween costumes. So cute. One is Dorothy and the other is Glenda.

Well that's all I know for now. Life is exhausting for me right now.
